CNN —The FBI and Los Angeles Police Department are investigating one of the largest cash heists in the city’s history after as much as $30 million was stolen from a San Fernando Valley money storage facility, a law enforcement source briefed on the investigation told CNN Thursday. The burglary happened on the night of Easter Sunday at an unnamed facility in Sylmar, a suburban neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, where cash from businesses across the region is handled and stored, the source said. The Los Angeles Times first reported the incident. The FBI Los Angeles office told CNN Thursday they are investigating “a large theft” in the San Fernando Valley and are working jointly with the LAPD, but would not share any other details citing an ongoing investigation. According to the Los Angeles Times, previously the largest cash heist in the city happened on September 12, 1997, when $18.9 million was stolen from the former site of the Dunbar Armored Inc. facility on Mateo Street.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former CBS chief executive and president Les Moonves has agreed to pay a $11,250 fine to settle a complaint accusing him of interfering with a police investigation of a sexual assault case, according to documents released Friday by the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission. According to the documents, Moonves acknowledged working closely with then-Capt. Cory Palka of the Los Angeles Police Department in 2017 to obtain information about a sexual assault victim’s confidential police report against him. Moonves also met with Palka for an hour at a restaurant to discuss the complaint and ways to quash it. Los Angeles' Government Ethics Ordinance governs the conduct of city employees and forbids them from misusing or disclosing confidential information acquired through their work.

Officers responded shortly before 7 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement posted on social media. Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene and investigators determined the shooting was a murder-suicide, police said. CNN —Officials in Los Angeles are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect believed to be targeting the homeless community after three unhoused people were fatally shot in their sleep this week. The killings happened in various locations in the city, including one near Skid Row, an area of downtown Los Angeles known for its large homeless population. The Los Angeles Police Department shared a map of the three locations where three unhoused men were recently killed. “Seek shelter, seek services, stay together, seek support.”Bass called the news “devastating” to the city, which is home to one of the largest unhoused populations in the country. The Los Angeles Police Department has summoned a task force to work on the case.

The son of a once prominent Hollywood agent and executive has been charged in the murder of a woman investigators believe to be his wife and whose remains were found bagged inside a dumpster in Los Angeles this week, the police said. A Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman said on Saturday that investigators believed the woman whose torso was found on Wednesday to be Mei Li Haskell, 37, the wife of the suspect, Samuel Haskell, 35, though confirmation of identity was still pending. As of Saturday, officials also were still searching for Mr. Haskell’s in-laws, Yanxiang Wang, 64, and Gaoshan Li, 71, who remained missing. Detective Efren Gutierrez of the Los Angeles police said in a news conference this week that officers had been sent to a residence on Coldstream Terrace in Tarzana, Calif., on Tuesday night because construction workers had reported seeing a dead body inside a plastic bag.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police have arrested a Los Angeles man in connection with the discovery of the torso of a dismembered female body and the disappearance of his wife and her live-in parents. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Saturday the arrest of 35-year-old Samuel Haskell. The arrest was supported by evidence from a search of Haskell's home in the Tarzana area where he lived with his wife, in-laws and three children, police said. Haskell's 37-year-old wife, Mei Li Haskell, has gone missing along with her parents.
